UI sizing issue

Google updated the WebView component in Android and broke some legacy features, which caused GuitarTapp's UI to be displayed way too large. Because we are unable to fix this UI sizing issue in the app by publishing an update to Google Play in a timely fashion, we are hereby offering an alternative way to update the app. This update should only be applied if you are experiencing this issue

How to update

As part of the Android operating system, there is a restriction that blocks installing applications outside the Google Play Store. If you do not enable unknown sources, you will get the error "Install blocked. For security, your phone is set to block installation of applications not obtained from Play Store" when you try to install the GuitarTapp update.

Follow these steps before downloading:

  1. On your phone, navigate to Settings > Security
  2. Check or enable the option "Unknown sources"
  3. Tap OK on the prompt message.

You can disable unknown sources again after you've installed the update

More info

In case you are wondering *why* we can't update through Google Play right now - it's because Google has decided that app updates must target Android version 8.0. We can't simply do this quickly, it means rebuilding important parts of the app.
